Welford Chart Notes interprets each sentence of your note as you write it and automatically updates the other sections of the chart for you (such as the problem list, medication list, allergy list, past history, lab results, ordered tests, and referrals) as well as automatically preparing prescriptions, patient education brochures, and patient visit summaries from the mere act of writing your note.  It also uses its ability to interpret free text to automatically warn you about allergies, interactions, precautions, contraindications, inappropriate dosages, and formulary violations. 

Other electronic medical records programs have no ability to interpret the text you write.  Your note is simply stored as a text document.  Any updating of the problem list, medications, etc. still has to be done manually.  This feature alone makes Welford Chart Notes a terrific time saver. 

The Natural Language Interpreter also allows you to search through your visit notes by meaning, finding the concept you are seeking, not just a particular word or phrase. 

This same technology is used in suggesting the appropriate CPT code for a visit, answering your help questions, and interfacing to QMR (Quick Medical Reference from First Databank).

The natural language module is updated quarterly.  You have full control as an end user to add your own terms and even to redefine the terms in the vocabulary system. This feature affords you flexibility that is rarely seen in electronic medical records software.

Ease Of Use
Welford Chart Notes is designed by a practicing physician with ease of use in mind.  Most notes can be created faster than they could be dictated using combinations of Templates, Contractions (macros), Wordlists (phrase picklists) and Expanders.  The program comes with libraries of Templates for a wide variety of diseases and visit types, and you can easily modify these and create your own Templates using our handy Template Wizard.  When you write a sentence about the patient's chief complaint, the program automatically merges the relevant Templates into your note.

The program constantly anticipates your next step and uses various techniques to minimize the amount of typing necessary.  You can also create custom Toolbars, selecting from over 100 different speed buttons, giving you one-click access to virtually every program function. 

For users who prefer dictation, we can interface with speech recognition products such as IBM ViaVoice and Dragon NaturallySpeaking, and can import files created by your transcriptionist through our Batch Importer. 

Customizability
The program has enormous flexibility at the user level.  Each user can specify the "look" of the patient's chart, including the layout and size of each window and which sections to open automatically.  You can make your notes as structured or free as you desire.

Our advanced Security System lets you assign access levels and passwords for each program function, provider in the practice, and user.  The Program Log records when each program subfunction is viewed or changed and by which user.  The Security Scan can identify if any critical data have been tampered.  Visit notes are encrypted and any tampering of their content is immediately detectable.  Datebook entries likewise can be made private and encrypted.  These features help to assure that your data are secure and HIPAA compliant.
